June 2026 Update — Guardian ad Litem, EHB 2445 Compliance, and Package Review Sheets

Guardian ad Litem (GAL) — full workflow

  • A redesigned GAL tab in the Opening package: clear sections with plain-English guidance, and questions that appear only when a GAL is actually required.
  • New and updated GAL documents: Motion to Appoint Probate GAL, Order to Appoint Probate GAL, GAL provisions in the Petition, Motion & Order to Waive GAL, and a new PGAL Consent document.
  • Limited GAL support: you can now link each minor or incapacitated party to the specific Trust or UTMA representing their interest, and the Motion's language adjusts automatically.
  • The Post-Appointment package now includes a simplified GAL section when GAL information carries over or notice documents are selected.
  • Fixes: waiver/consent documents no longer generate prematurely in GAL-pending matters, and Exhibit A no longer attaches to the Petition to Appoint GAL.

EHB 2445 compliance (effective June 11, 2026)

  • Two new personal representative disqualification questions have been added to the Petitioner tab and to the client-facing questionnaire.
  • Petitioner qualification language in the Petition and Order templates has been updated to reflect amended RCW 11.36.010.

Package Review sheets for every package

  • New attorney review sheets for the Post-Appointment, Closing, and Small Estates packages join the Opening sheet — a one-page QC summary of the matter at generation time.
  • Review sheets are now opt-in: check "Package Review Sheet (opens in your browser)" in the Internal Documents section.
  • Accuracy improvements: trust addresses now pull from the trustee, parties with a missing state are flagged in red, and minor/incapacitated indicators appear on party rows.

Document Selection screen refresh

  • All four packages (Opening, Post-Appointment, Creditors & Claims, Closing) now share a consistent Document Selection layout, with section headings, document descriptions, and a "Select Recommended" button.
  • The Notices & Waivers tab has been redesigned in the same style.

Small Estates package fixes

  • The statutory value cap and RCW citation have been corrected, and the cap is now maintained in one place so future statutory changes update everywhere at once. Washington residency handling was also fixed.

Questionnaire and interview improvements

  • Parties your client enters on the intake questionnaire now appear in the Assign Roles dropdown automatically — no more tabbing through records to make them show up. The same fix applies to children and grandchildren entered by clients.
  • Children lists now label each child (Minor), (Adult Child), or (Incapacitated Adult Child).
  • Client phone and email now copy automatically to minor or incapacitated children's records.

Mailing documents

  • Declarations of Mailing now use a cleaner two-column address layout.
  • The Notice of Appointment letter and Declaration now include minor children as recipients.
