This article explains how to complete the Client Information tab in the Testate Probate Opening Package.
In the Opening Package, the “Client” is the individual petitioning to be appointed as Personal Representative. The interview is structured on that assumption. This tab captures the identifying and contact information for the proposed Personal Representative and establishes how that individual will be referenced throughout the drafting process.
Purpose of This Tab
The Client Information tab:
Identifies the petitioner for probate
Establishes how the proposed Personal Representative is named in the pleadings
Captures contact and mailing information
Supports consistent language throughout the interview
The information entered here works in conjunction with role assignments and the Petitioner Information tab to ensure the Petition and related documents are generated correctly.

When the Proposed Personal Representative Is a Person
In most probate matters, the proposed Personal Representative is an individual. Select Person and enter the identifying and contact information for that individual.
The name entered here should match the legal name of the person. This entry will dictate how the individual will be identified in the Petition for Probate and importantly, the Letters Testamentary. Consistency with the legal identification is essential.
If the person is referenced differently in the Will (if nominated there), that should be addressed with manual edits after documents are assembled.
Contact and mailing information should reflect the address appropriate for probate-related communications.
When the Proposed Personal Representative Is an Entity
If a corporate fiduciary, trust company, or bank is petitioning for appointment, select Entity.
When an entity is selected, the interview will request:
The full legal name of the business entity
The type of entity (e.g., national banking association, trust company, or other)
The name and title of the authorized company representative signing on behalf of the entity
The Type of Entity selection is important. It allows the system to help confirm that the entity is qualified to serve as Personal Representative under Washington law. Certain entities (such as qualified banking institutions or trust companies) may serve, while others may not. Selecting the appropriate entity type supports compliance and accurate drafting.
Enter the entity’s name exactly as it should appear in court filings (including punctuation such as “N.A.” where applicable), and confirm the signing representative’s title is accurate.
This information ensures that:
The entity is properly identified in the Petition and Order
Signature blocks are formatted correctly
The appropriate corporate representative is listed
The system can validate entity qualification where applicable
